Nurses plan and provide medical and nursing care to patients in hospital, at home or in other settings who are suffering from chronic or acute physical or mental ill health. You will support recovery by using care plans, carrying out care procedures and assessments, and evaluating and focusing on the needs of the patient rather than the illness or condition. The successful candidate will need to take on emotional and stressful situations and work well under pressure.
Skills required:
Nursing degree
2 (more often 3) A levels or equivalent qualifications
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C
Good health and fitness
Caring and compassionate nature
Excellent teamwork and people skills
Ability to deal with emotionally charged and pressured situations
Verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities
Assessing and planning nursing care requirements.
Provide pre and postoperative care.
Monitor medication and intravenous infusions.
Take patient samples, pulses, temperature and blood pressures.
Writing records.
Providing emotional support to patients and relatives.
Supervising junior staff and tutoring student nurses.
