As a Network Support Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the systems that allow organisations to function and communicate, both internally and externally, on a daily basis. Tasks may include upgrading the company’s communications infrastructure or installing a new system. 

Skills required:

  • Degree in computer science, IT or similar field
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Brilliant at multitasking
  • Good team building skills
  • Ability to explain technical problems in a simple way
  • Work well with people
  • Eager to constantly update knowledge
  • A keen interest in computer networking and in depth knowledge of the four network types (LAN, WAN, MAN and GAN)

Responsibilities

  • Connecting new software and hardware
  • Setting up new user accounts, permissions and passwords
  • Supervision of security of all systems
  • Installing anti-virus protection
  • Fixing network faults
  • Network maintenance
  • Provide technical support for users
  • Deliver training for staff on new systems
  • Monitoring of network use
  • Planning future improvements
  • Supervising help desk staff
